Antinori's 1998 Tignanello is one of Italy's most iconic wines, belonging to the "Super Tuscan" category. From the Antinori estate, a historic house in Tuscany, this wine illustrates the perfect alliance between Italian tradition and innovation.

    General characteristics :

    • Producer : Marchesi Antinori, an internationally renowned Tuscan house.
    • Appellation : Toscana IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica).
    • Vintage : 1998, a year marked by favorable climatic conditions for producing rich and structured wines.
    • Assembly :
      • 80% Sangiovese
      • 15% Cabernet Sauvignon
      • 5% Cabernet Franc

    Tasting :

    • Color : Deep ruby red, with garnet reflections that testify to its evolution.
    • Nose :
      • Intense aromas of ripe red and black fruits (cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant).
      • Complex notes of tobacco, leather, and sweet spices (vanilla, cinnamon), revealing well-controlled aging in oak barrels.
      • Nuances of dark chocolate, damp earth and cedar wood enrich the bouquet.
    • Mouth :
      • Structured and elegant, with a velvety texture.
      • The tannins are ripe and well integrated, offering a balanced mouthfeel between freshness and power.
      • Lingering flavors of ripe fruit, licorice, spices and a touch of minerality.
      • A long and harmonious finish, marked by a beautiful acidity which brings liveliness.

    Storage potential :

The 1998 Tignanello is now fully mature, but it can still be kept for a few years to offer more complexity. This is a wine capable of aging gracefully for 20 to 25 years after harvest.

    Food and wine pairings :

This wine pairs perfectly with rich and tasty dishes, such as:

    • A risotto with truffles,
    • A fillet of beef with wine sauce,
    • Fresh pasta with porcini mushrooms,
    • Mature cheeses like Pecorino or Parmesan.

The 1998 Tignanello is a classic example of Tuscan excellence, combining the richness of Sangiovese with the structure of Bordeaux grapes. It is a wine of remarkable depth, ideal for lovers of great Italian reds.
