Chateau Palmer Margaux 2001 - Description and Critics' Notes
Description :
The 2001 Chateau Palmer is a red wine from Margaux, a Bordeaux 3rd Growth, made from a typical blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (51%) , followed by Merlot (44%) and a touch of Petit Verdot (5%) . This vintage offers a balanced combination of power and elegance, characteristic of the Margaux style. The wine is distinguished by complex aromas of black fruits, cedar and violet, as well as a velvety texture and silky tannins. The aging in oak barrels contributes to its depth and structure.
With a rich body and a long finish, this wine reveals great concentration and well-integrated freshness, paying homage to a cooler vintage in the Bordeaux region.
Critics' Notes:
- Wine Enthusiast: 93/100. This vintage is described as intense and concentrated, while retaining the iconic finesse of Margaux. The high proportion of Merlot adds roundness and richness, while the Cabernet Sauvignon brings freshness and structure. .
- Decanter: Exceptional quality with firm but refined tannins. A wine with considerable aging potential, still brilliant today .
Food and wine pairings: Perfect with dishes such as beef fillet, roast poultry or mature cheeses. It can also be enjoyed on its own to appreciate its complexity.
An excellent choice for lovers of classic, mature Bordeaux, the 2001 Château Palmer stands out for its ability to evolve for several more years in the cellar.
